AWS vs Azure vs GCP Jobs in Europe: Demand, Pay and Multi-Cloud Reality

AWS had the largest European job footprint in JobSnout's 29 August 2026 snapshot. Google Cloud produced the highest median among salary-visible cloud roles. Azure remained a major market—but the most important finding may be how often employers mentioned more than one cloud.

The salary figures are annual EUR equivalents and describe only jobs with employer-provided pay.

AWS led on demand

AWS appeared in about one quarter of JobSnout's 8,035 active programming jobs. Its 2,095 mentions were 81% higher than GCP's 1,159 and roughly double Azure's 1,030.

That makes AWS the broadest of the three job markets in the current dataset. For a candidate choosing a first cloud platform on vacancy count alone, AWS has the strongest case.

Vacancy count is not the same as depth. A posting may mention a cloud in its core requirements, as a preferred qualification or as one option in a long technology list. The next version of this analysis should distinguish required from optional skills when the source text allows it.

Most cloud comparisons are not winner-takes-all

These pair counts are inclusive: the AWS-and-GCP figure, for example, includes jobs that also mentioned Azure.

More than half of GCP-tagged vacancies mentioned all three major clouds. That does not necessarily mean the day-to-day work uses three providers. Some job descriptions say “AWS, Azure or GCP”; consultancies may serve clients across platforms; platform roles may genuinely operate multi-cloud systems.

The practical lesson is that cloud literacy can be more portable than a badge for one vendor. Networking, containers, identity, observability, infrastructure as code and distributed-systems fundamentals transfer even when product names change.

GCP's visible-salary median was highest

GCP's median was €110,000 across 149 active salary-visible jobs, compared with €99,160 for AWS (n=323) and €85,000 for Azure (n=156).

It would be tempting to call this a “GCP premium.” The data does not establish one. GCP postings may be concentrated in different cities, employers, seniority levels or role families. Multi-cloud overlap also means many of the same jobs contribute to more than one median.

The correct reading is descriptive: among the currently visible salary samples, jobs mentioning GCP had the highest midpoint median.

Hybrid was the largest known workplace category

Hybrid roles were the largest known arrangement for every cloud. AWS also had a substantial remote market of 677 jobs, followed by GCP with 366 and Azure with 271.

The “unclear” group is not synonymous with office work. It means JobSnout could not classify the workplace arrangement confidently from the source posting.

What should engineers learn?

For maximum opportunity breadth, AWS currently supplies the largest pool. For engineers targeting GCP-heavy data and platform work, the salary-visible sample looks attractive but needs to be evaluated role by role. Azure remains important, particularly where Microsoft-oriented enterprise stacks are common.

A sensible learning strategy is:

  1. develop strong vendor-neutral infrastructure foundations;
  2. learn one platform deeply enough to build and operate a real system;
  3. understand equivalent services on a second platform;
  4. pair cloud knowledge with Terraform, Kubernetes, security and observability;
  5. search for the surrounding role and stack, not the cloud keyword alone.

Methodology and limitations

This analysis uses active, deduplicated JobSnout vacancies on 29 August 2026. A job is counted when its title or description triggers the deterministic AWS, Azure or GCP technology tag. Jobs may appear in several groups.

Salary medians use active postings with employer-provided compensation, the midpoint of ranges and ECB conversion rates dated 28 August 2026. The figures do not control for geography, seniority, company or overlapping technologies.

JobSnout's observation window began on 24 August. The results describe the current collected market and should not yet be presented as a trend.
